Digital Eye Strain

Australians are now spending half the day using digital devices.  Recent studies have shown that as many as 65% of digital device users experience some form of eye strain.  Symptoms can include fatigue, dry sore eyes, blurred vision and headaches.  We now have a range of lenses that are specifically designed for digital devices.  These lenses help reduce fatigue and eye strain by reducing the focusing load on your eyes.  As part of our comprehensive eye examination, our optometrists can determine your suitability.

Tips to help reduce digital eye strain:

  • Remember to blink frequently when using computers
  • Take regular breaks.  Use the 20/20 rule.  Every 20 minutes look in the distance for 20 seconds
  • Make sure you are a comfortable distance from your screen and avoid straining your neck by tilting your head too far
  • Adjust your display settings
  • When necessary wear glasses designed for your digital environment and work environment.
