Every eye examination includes a thorough history evaluation, and assessment of both vision and eye health. Many common eye diseases have no symptoms and without a thorough regular eye examination, these diseases can lay undetected for many years, leading to long term damage and serious visual consequences. Regular eye examinations are an important part of maintaining healthy eyes and clear vision.
Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT)
The new Nidek RS 330 OCT provides a 3D cross-sectional image of the internal layers of the retina, and is likened to an MRI of the eye. Our optometrists utilise this technology so that we can detect any eye disease early.
Did you know that Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in Australia, has no early signs or symptoms, is not curable and damage lost cannot be regained. It can be treated if detected early. With the OCT, it is now possible to detect Glaucoma earlier than any other test, and therefore begin treating many patients to prevent damage occurring.
Digital Retinal Photography
This test is performed as part of a regular eye exam and will help detect certain diseases such as hypertension, macula degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.
Dry Eye Management
For those patients suffering from dry eye, our optometrists utilize a Keratograph machine, which enables precise evaluation of the quantity and quality of the tear film. It also has the ability to examine the meibomian gland function - the most frequent cause of dry eye. With a built-in camera, it is a powerful tool in recording changes in the treatment and management of dry eye.
